Education related findings for people with disabilities from Census 2011


  1. The 2011 Population Census showed that
  2. Among the total number of disabled persons in the country, 45 percent are illiterates.
  3. Only 13 percent of the disabled population has matriculation/ secondary education.
  4. Only 5 percent are graduates and above.
  5. Among male disabled persons, 38 percent are illiterate.
  6. Among female disabled persons, 55 percent are illiterate.
  7. In urban areas, 67 percent of the total number of disabled persons are literate vis–a–vis 49 percent in rural areas.[1]
